Canned Food Drive-

November 2-December 11 -

Earn up to 5 service hours by bringing cans to room 1105.  Six cans of food equals one service hour.  In choosing the food to purchase, please think about what you like to eat and what might be appealing to families.  Thank you very much for your generosity

POSTPONED - $2 per game/per person and $4.75 for shoes.  Members can earn a maximum of 1 hour of AGS credit.

Notes about non-AGS sponsored Events:

You can recieve a maximum of 4 hours of service credit for volunteer work done at non-profit organizations or charitable events that are not sponsored by AGS.  You must bring proof of your service hours on the organization's stationery.

 

 

Another Volunteer Opportunity for AGS Hours Credit:

You may always participate at Operation Gratitude, but you are only allowed to receive a maximum of 4 hours of AGS credit per Pierce semester.

NOTE from Operation Gratitude (MUST READ):

You do not need to sign up for shifts for weekdays or weekends; just show up whenever you are available. 
 
Please bring snacks/lunch with you.  We will provide water.
 
We will have tasks for everyone (standing, seated, easy on back; hard on back)!
 
As usual, children 12 years and older are welcome to volunteer at the armory; those ages 12-16 must be accompanied by an adult (who can drive in case of emergency) while on the premises.  Operation Gratitude will make NO exceptions.  We respectfully request that you do not bring children under 12 years, as we hate to tell them they must leave...but we will. 

Community Service credit will be available on all days. 
STUDENTS: You MUST SIGN IN AND OUT on the Community Service forms each day that you work; and you must collect the Certificate of Completed Hours when you leave.  Please turn in the certificate to a board member of AGS-Pierce College, for it to be accounted for!!!

Past Events:

Club Rush -  Monday, September 14 and Thursday, September 17 from 10:00- 2:00pm.  We are looking for members who would like to man/woman our AGS booth for these events.  If you would like to help, please e-mail Nitaya Kamsingwong at hitorigoto@gmail.com .  (Members can earn a maximum of 1 hour of AGS credit.)

Archery-September 26 8:45-11am  -  Free archery at Woodley Park (On Woodley between Victory & Burbank).  Members can earn a maximum of 1 hour of AGS credit.

Bowling- October 2 10:30pm-1am  -  Xtreme Bowling at Woodlake Lanes located at 23130 Ventura Blvd., Woodland Hills 91364.  $20 per person for unlimited bowling and shoe rental.  Members can earn a maximum of 1 hour of AGS credit.

Hiking & Pool BBQ- October 10 9:30am-11:30am, 12:00pm-on  -  Contact Veronica Cordero at veroniquitaloquita@gmail.com for location details for hiking.  Meet at 12pm for pool & BBQ.  Members can earn a maximum of 1 hour of AGS credit.

ASO/AGS Dance-October 23 (time TBA) in Great Hall - Members can earn a maximum of one hour of AGS credit for setting up or cleaning up.

Blood Drive-October 29 from 9am-3pm in Great Hall - If you would like to volunteer, please call Amir Abushami at (818)-433-0895.  Members who volunteer in this event (or donate blood!) can earn a maximum of one hour of AGS credit.

Staff Appreciation Banquet-

November 4 from 11:30-1:30 in Great Hall - Members can earn hour-for-hour AGS credit by setting up, helping out, or cleaning up.

The below is a list of times that members can volunteer for the SAB:
November 3rd, Tuesday from 6 PM to 10 PM (Initial Set Up)
November 4th, Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM (Secondary Set Up of food, and a decorations check)
Event begins from 11:30 AM and ends at 1:30 PM (We need servers and check-in people! Everyone who volunteers during the event must dress up in 70's era clothing. For more info, please Google '70's era clothing' for pictures!!)
Clean up begins from 1:35 PM to 3:30 PM
 
**It is of the utmost importance that we get people to volunteer from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM!!! If anyone is short on hours, this is a prime event, in which you can receive hour for hour credit to put towards your 12 hour requirement! Do not miss this great opportunity!**

ASO Dance Party - November 6 from 8pm-11pm in Great Hall - Members who volunteer can earn a maximum of 4 hours of AGS Credit.  Setup begins at 6:30.  Those who volunteer receive free admission.  Those who do not volunteer are charged $2 at the door (unless you get a free ticket before-hand).

The AGS Fall Regional Conference is on Nov. 7th and will take place in Pasadena, at Pasadena City College! All official AGS members are encouraged to attend! Please submit your applications to sign up for this very special event before the Oct. 2nd deadline! This is a great opportunity for us to meet other AGS chapters within our region. Don't miss out! Pierce College-Phi Theta Kappa-Alpha Gamma Sigma Beautification Project (2:50-4pm, meet in Room 1 under the library) *Updated 11/14/09*- November 24 **Please RSVP if you would like to help.  E-mail pierceags@yahoo.com.  This activity is on a first-come, first-serve basis because we are limited in the number of litter claws.  Every litter cleanup session is the equivalent to one hour of AGS credit towards a member's four hours of non-AGS sponsored activities.** 

Day of the Child - November 22 - Event will take place at the Barker Hangar in the Santa Monica Airport.  8 AM to 4 PM. For those who are attending, please bring back your nametag for credit.

 [CANCELLED]AGS Potluck-December 4 from 5PM-8PM - Bring food, drinks or desert and receive an hour. Bring 1 friend and receive yet another hour. [People must RSVP in advance and let us know what food, drink or desert they will be bringing to the party. Also, we need to know if they will be bringing anyone with them. All information must be sent to either Asaf - whose info is below - or Nitaya via email at hitorigoto@gmail.com] The event will take place at Asaf's house (our communications master), so please contact him via his email pierceagscommunication@gmail.com to get his address!

 

Bake/Candy Sale December 8 from 9AM-2:30PM - Located on the Pierce College Mall.  Members can earn a maximum of 1 hour of AGS credit for donating goods and hour-for-hour credit for selling.  We will not reimburse you for the goods you buy (but the goods will be counted in the form of AGS hours credit).
